This weekend, is an adventure to put it. Many of us, and of course myself love to indulge in a drink or ten on the weekend. Especially after a busy work week where I was going loopy.
Saturday night came, me and my besties were dolled up with sparkles on our faces, ready to go to Rats, Mardi Gras. We were bringing my other bestie too as she had never been, so it was time to pop her Rats cherry.
We started dancing, having a good time, I was playing epic wing-woman for my 2 single ladies and it was working, we drinking, dancing, drinking some more. Then it hit me. My chest started to hurt, I was unable to breathe. I decided to take 10 minutes and sat down, drinking water. Water wasn’t helping my chest. So I signaled to my first friend that it might be home time. As I went and waited for her, that is where I blacked out. I remember calling her phone telling me to hurry up, I remember there being paramedics and then I woke up in hospital. We never knew what happened, the likelihood is that I had my drink spiked or that I had one too many jager bombs and my heart just gave up. I’m writing this today to say that, I have heard many stories of people having their drinks spiked but here I was being invincible saying that it would never happen to me, but it may have as my friends and I were not drinking to our usual standard and we were on par. What is scary is that I don’t remember the police and the paramedics and getting to hospital- I have had to rely on my besties to tell me what happened and what I said which may have not been very ladylike but they did say on a lighter note I was trying to wing woman the paramedic who supposedly was hot to date one of my friends. I’m glad to have good friends who didn’t ditch me, as the drunk girl and were happy to come with me to hospital and call my parents. I’m also embarrassed in myself as how I could get into this situation, it not only ruined my night, but my besties night and my parents night. No parent wants a phone-call at 3am in the morning saying that their daughter is in an ambulance because her drink may have been spiked and her heart was giving out. I’m also embaressed in myself, I made a fool out of myself and was rude to the nurses with the nurses giving me dirty looks and stuff. Yes I had a few drinks and was the drunk one ending up in hospital and of course they were going to judge but they also needed a bed-side manner I found out when i woke up, I was scared, I had no idea where I was.
But drink spiking no matter how street smart or what is a serious matter and it could happen to anyone even me.
So look after those drinks, and for me I think I will stay sober for awhile.
So I’m pretty shitty at documenting my adventures but last week I ventured out to Big Day Out alongside my sister, and my 2 besties. Hiding our alcohol in biscuit and muesli boxes we were left to wonder how thorough they will search our bags. Clearly they weren’t thorough at all as our alcohol was let in. And matter of factly it was good we snuck in our alcohol as a vodka cruiser can was going to cost 3 tickets (an equivalent of $12 for one can, when at a bottlo you can purchase a four pack for $14).
Then off to Helena where we got our dance on, at first we thought she was Nina Las Vegas, then it clicked to us that she wasn’t. After a bit of a dance we decided to explore the Vodka Cruiser House Party, I had to leave my sister outside as she was under 18. She was a good sport through out the day and went off and saw a band while we indulged in a pricey beverage.
As we weren’t really that keen on the line up of BDO and the Chilli Peppers weren’t on till ages we went and danced solidly at a silent disco. Then it came time to see Vampire Weekend, playing their classic songs and us deciding that there will be no way that we will be going into the mosh for the Chilli Peppers.
My besties and I realised we still had some drink tickets that we had to use, so leaving my sister to watch the Yeah Yeah Yeahs we went and got a drink and I spent a good 30 minute wait in a line to go to the toilet (what is it with festivals and long girl toilet lines). My friends then decided they wanted to get slushies so that we can make them alcoholic so they rushed off to buy slushies whilst I started hearing the Killers play. Hearing the Killers and their first song Mr Brightside, I dashed off to try and find my sister in the crowd of people. I finally found her and was able to enjoy the set, with my besties finding us too.
Then it was what I had been waiting for all day and all my life. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers began to play and my god was it amazing. I even got on someones shoulders. They were playing the classics of Under the Bridge, Otherside, Can’t stop and during Suck my Kiss I had to pee again, knowing I wont be getting back to my spot, I went off to the bar and spent my last drink ticket and watched the Chilli Peppers and had a better view.
And this concludes my big day out and Australia Day where Macklemore’s Thrift Shop scored number 1 in the hottest 100.
On the weekend we went for a bit of an adventure, to a fluro party at the Bay Hotel. It was a night of fun, free $21 drink cards, good music, what more can be asked for.

I hadn’t written for a while but I’ve been on a few adventures.
1. I finally found a good endo, who actually understands me and was like you will f*** up but you are young and I am here to help you through it. I know that you will drink and party. I told her I liked her already
2. I have recently become fond of going to 90s nights. Dancing to songs that I can sing to just makes my night. There are 2 I have been too so far. Perseverance on a Friday night in Brunswick st, from playing Spice Girls to S Club 7 to Hanson even some Jessies Girl and Bohemian Rhapsody, I couldn’t remember the last time I had danced and drunk till 4am with us 3 girls being the last to leave the pub.
The second 90s night I went to was at the Espy in St Kilda, it may have been one of the worst mistakes I made to go. It would’ve been good if you were over 28, but alas I am not and me and my friend might possibly have been the youngest of legal age there. Plus their jaeger bombs were quite pricey. But never fear we weren’t going to let a bad pub stop us, so we went to Rats or Brown Alley. It was a lot of fun and filled with people my age. We were a bit dubious at first, as no one was on the d floor in the first room, but we found where the people were, the roof top, smokers bar where a dj was spinning hits from 90s to now to indie rock to top 40. My ideal night. Plus being a smoker it was also a bit of a benefit. I wasn’t missing out on the music. My friend a non-smoker was also surprised that it wasn’t filled with smoke and she was able to enjoy herself. A bonus jaeger bombs here were less than $10 a students dream price. The only down side was that entry was $20 but it was totally worth it. Also a plus there was some eye candy.
So for a fun filled weekend of dance I would recommend hitting up Perseverance on a Friday night followed by Rats on a Saturday than perhaps a lazy Sunday session somewhere to nurse that headache.
Anyway Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’m off on a bit of a holiday to have some more adventures.
